Hunter AHP have an exciting opening for a Band 6 Locum Biomedical Scientist with expertise in Microbiology to join a leading NHS laboratory in Sussex. This is a great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced department delivering high-quality infection diagnostics.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine and specialist testing in bacteriology, virology, and mycology

• Use modern microbiology platforms including automated culture and ID/AST systems

• Maintain quality standards aligned with ISO 15189 and UKAS accreditation

• Accurately report and interpret microbiology results

• Participate in laboratory audits and quality improvement initiatives

Essential Requirements:

• HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist

• A minimum of 1 year of UK-based microbiology experience

• Proficiency in microbiological techniques including culture and microscopy

• Understanding of diagnostic workflows and infection control

Desirable:

• Prior experience in NHS settings

• Knowledge of middleware and LIMS systems (WinPath, Clinisys)
