JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you an experienced Independent Prescribing Pharmacist seeking a rewarding locum opportunity in Manchester? We’re currently working with a GP surgery that’s looking for a skilled professional to join their team on a long-term basis.

Job Title: Prescribing Pharmacist
Location: Manchester, on site. 
Duration: Ongoing contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:30 (37.5 hours per week)
Start Date: April/May
End Date: Ongoing
Rate of Pay: £33 - £40 per hour

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Prescribing Pharmacist in a busy GP practice, you will be responsible for:

• Carrying out patient-facing clinical assessments

• Formulating individualised treatment plans

• Prescribing medication independently in line with NHS and practice protocols

• Delivering structured medication reviews

• Supporting patients with chronic conditions

• Advising on medicines management and cost-effective prescribing

• Working collaboratively with the wider primary care team

• Keeping thorough and up-to-date patient documentation

Requirements & Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must have:

• A valid GPhC registration

• Independent Prescriber qualification (essential)

• Previous experience within a GP practice or primary care setting

• Excellent clinical judgement and communication skills

• Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• A strong commitment to patient-centred care

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:30 (37.5 hours weekly). The position is based on-site in Manchester and is expected to be ongoing, with potential for long-term extension based on service requirements.
