Locum Principal Commercial Contracts Lawyer and Team Leader – Hybrid Working – Initial 3+ months – Up to £80 per hour (umbrella) – Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team are working with an established Local Authority based in the Midlands who are seeking an experienced Principal Commercial Contracts Lawyer and Team Leader to join their team on a locum basis.

Role Overview:

Rate: Up to £80 per hour (umbrella)

Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working

Duration: Initial 3+ months with the possibility for extension

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of Solicitors and Legal Assistants
• Advise on strategic procurement matters, including framework agreements, major call-offs, and general commercial agreements
• Negotiate and advise on major projects, including multi-party ventures
• Manage contentious and non-contentious work on JCT and NEC contracts
• Provide clear strategic legal guidance on a variety of commercial matters
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the Council alongside external partners

About You:

• Managerial experience is essential
• Experienced in Local Government or Public Sector work
• A highly experienced Principal Commercial Solicitor, or Legal Executive
