Machine/Production Operator

DS Smith are seeking motivated and experienced Machine/Production Operators to join their Corrugator Team in Blunham. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in our mission to produce high-quality cardboard products for leading brands, including Amazon. Our machines are highly automated and operate at rapid speeds, and you will be instrumental in ensuring our production runs smoothly and safely.

Location: DS Smith, South Mills, The Ridgeway, Blunham, Bedford MK44 3PH
Pay: £15.46 per hour
Job Type: 3 Months initially Full Time, Temp to Perm Role
Shift: Pitman Shift with an average of 42 hours per week. Week 1 at 60 hours, Week 2 at 24 hours
Week 1 & 2 - DAYS - 2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off
Week 3 & 4 - NIGHTS - 2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off
Site Tour or Induction: Friday 30th May 2025 at 09:30 AM

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate the Casemakers to produce Amazon-style boxes at high volume, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Maintain a strong focus on health and safety protocols, prioritising yourself and your colleagues' wellbeing.
• Address and report any unsafe practices or incidents to management immediately.
• Collaborate with team members to foster a productive and positive working environment.
• Monitor machine performance and carry out basic maintenance to ensure optimal operating conditions.

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience in a production or machine operating environment.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality control.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a positive team player.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Adaptable and open to working on various tasks and challenges.
• Familiarity with automated machinery, particularly the Lmc 1230 casemaker machine, is preferred not required.
