Job Description - Marine Studies Lecturer

Our client is
seeking a technically strong and student -focused Marine Studies Lecturer to join its Marine & Maritime Programme. This role is ideal for a hands -on marine engineering professional with practical experience across vessel systems and a passion for developing the next generation of marine technicians.

 

What You’ll Do:


Deliver engaging theory and
practical instruction
across the following courses:
  • Introduction to Marine Electrical Systems
  • Marine Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
  • Basic Marine Diesel Systems & Troubleshooting
  • Outboard Engines
  • Sailboat Theory & Practice
Conduct lab sessions, workshops,
and practical demonstrations.
Prepare lesson plans, assessments,
and course materials aligned with programme standards.
Evaluate student performance and
maintain accurate academic records.
Support student advising,
mentoring, and skills development.
Participate in departmental
meetings, programme reviews, and curriculum development.
Assist with student recruitment
initiatives and represent the programme at industry and educational events.


Requirements

What We’re Looking For:
  • Master’s degree in Marine
    Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a closely related
    field.
  • Marine engineering, marine
    mechanic, outboard engine technician, or small -craft engineering experience is
    essential.
  • Minimum 3 years’ teaching,
    training, or instructional experience (tertiary, vocational, or
    industry -based).
  • Strong practical background in: Diesel engines, Electrical systems, Refrigeration & AC, Auxiliary machinery, Outboard engines
  • STCW certifications are an asset.
  • Experience working with small
    boats, tugs, OSVs, fishing vessels, or sailboats is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and
    the ability to teach diverse learner groups.
