Marketing Admin Officer - 1 Day role

About the Role

Reed Public Sector is looking for a confident and creative Marketing Officer to provide temporary cover for 8 weeks for a Local Authority in Oxfordshire. This is a flexible, freelance-style opportunity ideal for a self-starter with strong digital marketing and content creation skills.

You’ll be responsible for managing social media, updating the website, and drafting newsletters to keep traders and customers engaged. Occasional on-site visits to the market will be required to capture content and connect with traders.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media (Instagram & Facebook):

• Create engaging content (videos, photos, reels, captions)
• Schedule and post to promote traders, events, and seasonal activity
• Visit the market for filming and photography

Website (WordPress):

• Make ad hoc updates to the website
• Add/update trader listings
• Write and publish short blog posts

Newsletters:

• Draft and schedule two newsletters (via GovDelivery or similar):
  
  • One for traders (internal updates)
  • One for customers (public-facing news and events)

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience managing social media for a business or organisation
• Strong copywriting and storytelling skills
• Confident creating short-form video and image content
• Familiarity with WordPress
• Ability to write and structure email newsletters
• Highly organised and self-motivated
• Comfortable engaging with people in person
• Based in or near Oxford and able to visit the market regularly

Desirable Skills

• Experience in local government, tourism, or retail
• Photography skills
• Knowledge of Canva, CapCut, or similar tools
• Understanding of audience engagement metrics
• Familiarity with GovDelivery or similar platforms
