Mechanical and Electrical Preventative Maintenance Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a skilled and proactive Mechanical and Electrical Preventative Maintenance Engineer to join our client at a busy metal waste recycling facility.This is a night-shift role, working Sunday through Thursday, and requires a flexible, hands-on approach to support the smooth and safe operation of our plant.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical and electrical systems across the site.
• Diagnose and repair faults in machinery and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Support reactive maintenance tasks as needed during the night shift.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and report any recurring issues.
• Collaborate with the day team to ensure continuity and effective handovers.
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company procedures.

Requirements

• Proven experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance, ideally in an industrial or recycling environment.
• Recognised qualifications in mechanical and/or electrical engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively on night shifts.
• A flexible attitude to working hours and tasks, with a willingness to support other teams when required.

Desirable

• Experience working in a metal recycling or heavy industrial setting.
• Knowledge of PLCs and automated systems.

Shift Pattern: Nights Sunday to Thursday
Hourly Pay: £18.00 to £20.00
