Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a prominent organisation in the manufacturing sector, is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis located at Antelope Park, Southampton.

• Create new and maintain existing 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
• Collaborate closely with R&D engineers to ensure rapid response and hands-on support
• Involved in assembly work including plastic moulding, PCBs, and metal work
• Production of models using a bill of materials comprising 15 to 20 elements
• Work primarily in the Southampton office, ideally 4 and 1/2 days per week
• Communicate effectively with team members and management to deliver design solutions

• Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential
• BTEC Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience in mechanical design within the manufacturing sector
• Understanding of assembly processes including plastic moulding and PCBs
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

• Contract position, working 37.5 hours per week with a potential early finish on Fridays
• Face-to-face interview process with the R&D manager supported by HR
• Role falls inside IR35 regulations
