Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the design and construction of nuclear facilities within one of the UK's most high-profile nuclear projects.

You will play a key role in clarifying deliverables, performing mechanical stress analyses, and ensuring the integrity of equipment anchorage and valve calculations. This role involves close collaboration with design offices, suppliers, and construction teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clarify construction deliverables with design offices
  • Analyse input data and update hypothesis notes
  • Perform mechanical stress and anchorage capability analyses
  • Propose design modifications where criteria are not met
  • Support technical issue resolution during manufacturing and construction
  • Conduct hand calculations and use macros for feasibility assessments
  • Review subcontractor calculation notes and drawings
  • Ensure compliance with QA procedures and interface with CAD teams
  • Lead technical meetings and manage stakeholder interfaces

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in civil works and steel structure design
  • Knowledge of EUROCODE and RCC-M (preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Ability to manage multiple interfaces and meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with nuclear power plant operations and safety aspects
  • Experience with 2D/3D design tools (Navisworks, PDMS)

Additional Information

 

  • 12  month Contract with option to extend

  • Competitive salary package.

  • Inside IR35
