Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting on behalf of their prestigious client in Clydach, Swansea for a Mechanical Engineer for a 12-month contract, that may become long term/permanent.

The Mond Nickel Refinery, owned & operated by Vale Europe recently celebrated 120 years of production, and is one of the world's leading Nickel refineries. Vale are globally one of the world's largest mining companies, with operations in the UK, Asia, the USA and across Europe.

Reporting to the Engineering Maintenance Mananger, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible supporting the overall maintenance operation. They will be responsible for providing effective & efficient support, Subcontractor Management, training, competencies & assets, reporting breakdowns & Co-ordinating work.

The successful applicant will have extensive Mechanical / maintenance experience & be computer literate. A working knowledge of SAP being is essential.

The role requires the ability to work at height and in confined spaces together with the wearing of BA equipment to facilitate entry when necessary.

To be considered for the above role, the applicant must have completed a four-year mechanical apprenticeship, together with a suitable period of work experience in a heavy industrial environment, knowledge pertinent to a nickel refinery, or similar would be an advantage. Experience with rotational equipment such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, elevators, rotationary kilns is esential.
