Mental Health Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

We're looking for a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated school team, in Walsall, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with pupils across Key Stages 1-4 who may also have additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, or other comorbid conditions. Your role will involve supporting behaviour for learning, promoting positive relationships, and helping students access the curriculum in a way that works for them.

This is a varied and rewarding opportunity, based in Walsall, where no two days are the same. Whether it's helping to de-escalate a challenging moment, guiding a child through a learning activity, or simply being a steady, trusted presence in their day-you'll be an essential part of each pupil's progress.

What you'll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and related needs
  • Helping students stay focused and engaged in lessons
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing and self-regulation
  • Encouraging independence and positive choices
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support individualised strategies

What we're looking for:

We're looking for an SEMH Teaching Assistant who brings experience, patience, and a proactive attitude. Ideally, you'll have experience using strategies such as Team Teach or MAPA, and be confident supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a school setting.
