Location: Birmingham
Contract: Full-time
Organisation: Birmingham Children’s Trust
Contact: .uk
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people? Birmingham Children’s Trust is looking for a dedicated and empathetic Missing Support Worker to join our team and help safeguard some of the city’s most vulnerable children.
About the Role As a Missing Support Worker, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting children and young people who go missing from home or care. You'll conduct Return Home Interviews (RHIs), build trusted relationships, and help ensure their voices are heard in safeguarding processes.
You will:
  • Carry out timely RHIs for children and young people, adapting your approach to meet their needs.
  • Offer guidance, information, and advocacy to support their safety and well-being.
  • Use insights from your work to help prevent future missing episodes and identify risks of exploitation.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners including the Exploitation Hub, West Midlands Police, and social care teams.
  • Be a key point of contact for professionals seeking advice on missing children and related exploitation concerns.
About You We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has experience working directly with children and young people, particularly those at risk or with complex needs.
  • Can build rapport, show empathy, and communicate effectively across diverse backgrounds.
  • Is confident in safeguarding procedures and information sharing across agencies.
  • Is flexible and willing to travel, occasionally outside of Birmingham, depending on placement locations.
  • Can manage their own workload and contribute to wider strategic discussions around safeguarding.
Additional Information
  • This role includes agile working and flexible hours.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required.
  • You will receive regular supervision and have access to training and development opportunities.
Why Join Us? At Birmingham Children’s Trust, we are committed to creating a workplace where you can be your authentic self. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and actively encourage diversity and inclusion. We offer flexible working options and have vibrant staff networks to support your personal and professional development.
