MMA Welder

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Duration: Temporary to Permanent
Pay Rate: £20-£25 per hour

Responsible for the safe delivery of preventative planned maintenance and welding repair/fault response across all areas of the plant and surrounding areas.

• Carry out specific risk assessments where required.

• Report faults and issues identified during routine preventative maintenance.

• Perform MIG, TIG, and MMA welding at various angles.

• Assemble components ready for installation.

• Read and interpret schematic drawings.

• Perform mould services and mould changes.

• Carry out planned maintenance checks.

• Complete work orders and record materials used.

• Respond promptly to breakdowns.

• Undertake basic preventative and reactive maintenance.

• Report defects to line management.

• Maintain excellent housekeeping in line with site safety requirements.

• Ensure compliance with HSQE requirements.

• Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and mechanical production assets (beneficial, not essential).

• Preferred experience in concrete/pre-cast, construction materials, or construction sectors, ideally with similar mechanical plant configurations.

• Experience in medium/heavy industrial environments is desirable.

• Good mechanical knowledge, including hydraulic systems.

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to fault-find and use initiative to resolve issues.

• Experience in planned maintenance and proactive fault reporting.

• Flexible to work weekends when required.

• Open and willing to learn with a positive attitude.

Beneficial Experience:

• Fitting and stripping hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

• Using hand tools for precise operations.

• Recognised mechanical qualification (preferred).

• Welding to BSEN ISO 9606-1 standard, single-sided fillet weld, horizontal and vertical welds.

• Minimum basic safety training.

Licences (Preferred):

• Overhead Crane Licence.

• MEWP 3a and 3b Licence.

• FLT Licence B1 & B2.
