We are seeking a Multi-Trade Operative (Non-Electrical) to join our City Development & Neighbourhoods Service team. This role involves carrying out quality, customer-focused repairs, adaptations, and refurbishment work to properties and other buildings managed by Leicester City Council. The ideal candidate will be skilled in various trades and committed to delivering high standards of workmanship and customer service.

• Undertake a variety of multi-trade work and advanced repairs & refurbishment tasks to the agreed quality and performance standards.
• Assess and make decisions to complete multi-trade repair and refurbishment work, aiming to achieve ‘right first time’ service to all customers.
• Determine and arrange appropriate and value for money resources required to complete repairs & refurbishment and remove any waste.
• Liaise with service customers before, during, and after repair & refurbishment work, ensuring minimal inconvenience and agreeing on suitable appointments.
• Manage a wide range of stock of parts and equipment on vehicles to ensure the most efficient completion of work.
• Work with colleagues and others to resolve or notify of issues arising, e.g., regarding outstanding repairs, rechargeable items, breaches of tenancy conditions, safeguarding, and Health and Safety.
• Clean and tidy following repair and refurbishment works.
• Direct and supervise apprentices and other assigned trainees.
• Carry out other miscellaneous duties associated with the role.

• Experience of carrying out multi-trade tasks in occupied domestic properties and dealing with residents, including vulnerable people.
• Knowledge of building industry and health and safety regulations.
• Qualified to NVQ level 2 or detailed knowledge and relevant experience in a relevant trade such as plumbing, carpentry, or plastering.
• Able to use ICT systems and familiar with MS Word and emails.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit to meet the demands of the role, including climbing ladders and lifting heavy objects.
