Job Description - Neighbourhood Officer

Neighbourhood Officer

  • Location: Barnsley S71
  • Job Type: Full-time temp till middle of August
  • Hourly rate: £15.78 PAYE or £19.48 Umbrella

Join our Neighbourhood Teams as a Neighbourhood Officer, a key front-line position dedicated to providing a proactive, reassuring, and customer-focused tenancy and estate management service. This role is crucial in making a real difference to our customers and the communities we manage.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver a highly visible, effective, and proactive tenancy and neighbourhood management service.
  • Address and escalate breaches of tenancy regulations in a timely manner, including handling Anti-Social Behaviour using appropriate interventions.
  • Manage day-to-day patch-based void management of properties, collaborating with partners to ensure properties are let swiftly to meet performance targets.
  • Conduct welcome visits for new tenants, providing them with necessary support and information.
  • Identify customer vulnerabilities and safeguarding concerns, completing support checklists and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Lettings Service to assess applications to the Housing Waiting List and ensure effective operation of the Lettings Policy.
  • Engage with community groups to establish local priorities and support community initiatives.
  • Provide low-level support and make appropriate referrals to internal or external support providers.
  • Participate in estate inspections and develop action plans, ensuring maintenance of communal areas.
  • Develop a thorough local knowledge of residents and community issues, contributing insights to relevant meetings and agencies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Demonstrable experience in social housing, estate management, tenancy management, or community safety-related work.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present information clearly and adapt communication for various audiences.
  • Ability to work independently, organise and prioritise workload, and meet deadlines.
