Job Description - Neighbourhood Officers

Neighbourhood Officer
  • Pay Rate: £15.84 per hour
  • Location: Yorkshire Collaboration (Berneslai Homes)
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (2-3 months)

We are looking for three Neighbourhood Officers to join our team on a temporary basis for the next 2 - 3 months. This is a key front-line role within our Neighbourhood Teams, dedicated to delivering a proactive, customer-focused tenancy and estate management service. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our customers and strengthening community cohesion.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Deliver a highly visible, effective, and proactive tenancy and neighbourhood management service.
  • Address and escalate breaches of tenancy regulations timely, including handling Anti-Social Behaviour, using appropriate interventions.
  • Manage day-to-day patch-based void management of properties, collaborating with partners to ensure properties are let swiftly to meet performance targets.
  • Conduct welcome visits for new tenants, providing essential information, support, and advice, and making necessary referrals.
  • Identify customer vulnerabilities and safeguarding concerns through support checklists, risk assessments, and appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Lettings Service to assess applications to the Housing Waiting List and ensure effective operation of the Lettings Policy.
  • Engage with community groups to establish local priorities and support community initiatives.
  • Participate in estate inspections, develop action plans, and liaise with service providers to maintain communal areas.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of local community issues and contribute insights to relevant meetings and agencies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in neighbourhood or estate management, or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of housing management, community safety, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local community dynamics and issues is advantageous.
