Network Architect, Hybrid Data Centre & Cloud (AWS or Azure), Remote

Network Architect required for a leading financial services organisation based in Bristol.
Outside of IR35
Up to £750 per day
Predominantly remote working

This is a hybrid Architect role that will suit a consultant with a background in Networking, with knowledge of providing designs & solutions for both network and cloud related projects, ideally AWS.

The successful candidate will lead the design and evolution of scalable and secure network architectures that bridge on-premise data centres & public cloud environments.

In parallel with a datacentre migration, your remit will include defining and communicating best practice for hybrid connectivity, ensuring integration between legacy and modern cloud-native platforms. You will offer strategic oversight to ensure that network designs and solutions align with business continuity objectives. A strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and operational resilience is essential.

General responsibilities: -

• Design and Architect Hybrid Connectivity.
• Design and implement robust hybrid network solutions that span physical data centres with cloud platforms e.g. AWS, Azure, to ensure high availability, low latency & secure data flow.
• Cloud-Native Networking: Support the transition from legacy networking to cloud-native routing thus eliminating reliance on traditional appliances.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - promote and implement IaC practices for network provisioning and configuration, enabling automation and compliance.
• Security & Zero Trust. Apply Zero Trust principles across hybrid environments, ensuring secure access, segmentation, and threat mitigation.
• Mentorship & Governance, including coaching engineering teams on modern networking practices and contributing to the Technical Design Authority to uphold governance standards.
• Collaborate with third-party providers to deliver integrated solutions and manage upstream/downstream connectivity.

Skills and experience required: -

• Hybrid cloud networking, including VPNs, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, and SD-WAN.
• Experience with cloud-native networking services e.g. AWS VPC, Azure Virtual Network
• Proficiency in network automation and IaC tools
• Familiarity with VMware, Windows Server, client environments.
• Experience with Cisco network (Brocade and Extreme desirable)
• Demonstrated experience working within regulatory frameworks and risk management.
• Knowledge of cost optimization strategies
