Job Summary:
• We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to support individuals with disabilities in promoting independence and improving daily living.
• Working under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist, this role involves conducting person-centred assessments, recommending appropriate equipment and adaptations, and supporting carers through assessments and advice.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Conduct strengths-based assessments for adults with physical disabilities to promote independence and wellbeing
• Support service users in setting personal goals and enable independence with activities of daily living
• Assess and recommend appropriate equipment and minor/major home adaptations
• Carry out carer assessments and create person-centred support plans
• Identify safeguarding concerns and take appropriate action
• Maintain accurate case notes and complete documentation on systems such as Mosaic
• Collaborate with professionals from housing, social care, NHS, and voluntary sectors
• Contribute to performance targets, quality assurance, and continuous service improvement
• Participate in training, supervision, and team development activities
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant health and social care legislation
Skills/Experience:
• Experience working with people with disabilities (paid or unpaid)
• Ability to complete assessments and write clear, concise reports
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Understanding of disability and the impact on daily living
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Good time management, planning, and organisational skills
• IT proficiency (including case recording systems and MS Office)
• Knowledge of safeguarding and adult social care procedures
• Awareness of the Care Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, and related legislation
