Job Description - Occupational Therapist- Assessment and Screening Role

Community Team in Southwark seeking Occupational Therapist for Office-Based Assessment and Screening Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join a friendly and collaborative team in Southwark. This office-based role supports the community through timely assessment and effective referral management, working under the guidance of an experienced OT Deputy Team Manager (DTM). The position offers a full-time locum contract with, fair caseload expectations, and excellent professional support.

Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist include:

  • Screening incoming referrals and conducting Telephone OT assessments.

  • Providing clinical decision-making that may include signposting, prescribing equipment, recommending minor adaptations, or making referrals for home visits.

  • Working closely with the OT Deputy Team Manager to triage referrals and manage the shared inbox.

  • Supporting Customer Support Officers by advising on appropriate clinical pathways.

  • Collaborating with the wider OT service and community teams to ensure service users receive timely, appropriate interventions.

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation using sound clinical reasoning.

To Be Successful:

  • Experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a local authority or community setting.

  • Confident clinical judgement and excellent communication skills.

  • HCPC Registration.

  • Enhanced DBS/CRB (we can assist with this if needed).

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Recognised Occupational Therapy qualification.
