Job Description - Onsite IT Support Engineer

Job Title: Onsite Engineer

Location: Hersham, UK
Job Type: 6 Months Contract Initially

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and customer-focused Deskside Support Engineer to join our IT support team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Level 1 and Level 2 support, strong troubleshooting skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional end-user support across both physical and virtual environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 deskside support for Windows 10 environments.
  • Manage Active Directory tasks including user setup, permissions, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform break/fix support, including hardware diagnostics and repairs.
  • Set up and configure printers, peripherals, and other end-user devices.
  • Deliver remote support to users across multiple locations.
  • Maintain a customer-first approach, ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.
  • Communicate effectively with users, demonstrating strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage stock levels of IT equipment and consumables.
  • Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on both physical and virtual platforms.
  • Package and deploy applications to end users; update and repackage as needed.
  • Support and maintain network infrastructure, assisting with cross-domain connectivity issues.
  • Administer and support Active Directory, Exchange (on-prem and 365), and hybrid domain environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a deskside or IT support role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with application packaging and deployment.
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and ask for help when needed.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, or similar.
  • Experience with ITSM tools and ticketing systems.
  • Knowledge of virtual environments and UAT processes.
