We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Teaching Assistant/ HLTA to join our team. The ideal candidate will support our mission to re-engage young people by placing them in environments that better match their learning styles. This role is primarily outdoors and requires a love for all things in nature. You will work closely with teachers and students to foster social and emotional well-being, confidence, and self-belief.

We help individuals of all ages rebuild confidence, self-esteem, and engage with lifelong learning through various co-curricular projects such as business enterprise, animal care, fishing and foraging, and aquaponics.

  • Support Classroom Teaching: Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students, ensuring they are engaging and effective.
  • Student Development: Help SEN students develop academic, social, and emotional skills through targeted support and interventions.
  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one assistance to SEN students who need extra help, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique needs.
  • Behavior Management: Assist in managing classroom behavior, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment for SEN students.
  • Resource Preparation: Prepare and organize educational materials and resources for lessons and activities, specifically designed for SEN students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Support teachers in assessing the progress of SEN students and providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Outdoor Learning: Plan and lead outdoor educational activities that align with the curriculum and are accessible to SEN students.
  • Nature-Based Projects: Facilitate projects involving nature, such as gardening, animal care, and environmental conservation, tailored to the abilities and interests of SEN students.
  • Field Trips: Organize and supervise field trips to natural settings, ensuring the safety and engagement of SEN students.
  • Outdoor Skills Development: Teach SEN students practical outdoor skills, such as foraging, fishing, and basic survival techniques, in a supportive and adaptive manner.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and families.
  • Passion for education, nature, and helping students succeed.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in various educational settings, particularly outdoors.
