Pay: £90-£115 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, long-term

Long Term Futures is working with a supportive secondary school in Barnet to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant with a strong pastoral focus. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, helping them to build resilience, manage behaviour, and access learning in a calm and inclusive environment.

The Role

This role sits within both the SEND and pastoral teams, giving you the opportunity to support students inside and outside of the classroom. You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH and additional needs
  • Implement behaviour management strategies to help students stay engaged and regulate their emotions
  • Support with mentoring, wellbeing sessions, and restorative conversations
  • Assist in lessons by adapting resources and reinforcing teacher guidance
  • Track and record pupil progress, contributing to reviews and pastoral plans
  • Liaise with pastoral leads, SENCO, and external agencies to ensure holistic support

What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils, ideally with SEMH, ASD or behaviour needs
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, empathetic approach
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviour using firm but supportive strategies
  • A proactive team player with excellent communication skills
  • A genuine interest in student welfare, pastoral care, and inclusive education

Why Work with Long Term Futures?

  • Long-term opportunities in high-quality, supportive schools
  • Free CPD training in SEMH, behaviour management and SEN support
  • Weekly pay through our easy-to-use online system
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who understands your career goals
