Job Description - Payroll Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Coordinator to join the accounting and finance department within the life science industry on a 9-month fixed-term contract. Based in York, this role involves ensuring the smooth and accurate delivery of payroll services during a key period of organisational transition.

Description

  • Accurately process payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with all regulations and internal policies.
  • Manage and resolve payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the payroll team during audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure accurate employee data integration.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of payroll adjustments and deductions.
  • Assist in streamlining payroll processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide support during organisational changes and transitions impacting payroll.
  • Ensure adherence to deadlines and delivery of payroll in a timely manner.

Profile

A successful Payroll Coordinator should have:

  • Previous experience working within a payroll function, ideally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of payroll systems and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Strong numerical and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
