Job Description - Personal Advisor




2 months contract with a local authority







Job Purpose



  • We are seeking an enthusiastic and energetic, passionate Personal Advisor in our Aftercare Team who can lead and provide excellent support to Care Leavers. This Council provides an opportunity to develop good social work practice and work with an ambitious, supportive team.







Key Duties/Accountabilities




  • Provide direct support to care leavers, helping them navigate housing, education, employment, and health services

  • Develop, implement, and regularly review Pathway Plans in collaboration with young people and relevant professionals

  • Maintain regular contact with care leavers, offering emotional and practical support tailored to individual needs

  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health, and safety standards

  • Act as a key point of contact and advocate for care leavers, liaising with internal teams and external agencies

  • Monitor progress and outcomes, maintaining accurate records and contributing to performance reporting

  • Organize and participate in activities that promote social inclusion, independence, and personal development




Essential Experience Required




  • Proven ability to provide sensitive and effective direct work with young people

  • Strong understanding of the role of the corporate parent and the challenges faced by care leavers

  • Experience in developing and reviewing support plans or similar frameworks

  • Ability to analyze performance data and use insights to improve practice




Essential Qualification Required




  • Relevant qualification is essential




Additional information to note




  • Working hours: 37 hours per week

  • Flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance

  • Candidate must be able to drive and hold a valid UK driving license

  • A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check at Enhanced Level with Children's Barred List is required for this post

  • The role closes on 8th Sept 2025, apply ASAP
