Learning Support Assistant (Personal Care)

• Location: South London
• Hours: 35 per week
• Salary: £15.55-£17.01

We are seeking dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join our team, providing essential support to young people and adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is crucial in facilitating access to learning programmes and college services, enhancing educational outcomes, and supporting personal development in line with individual Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Day-to-day of the role:

• Provide person-centred learning support to learners with severe and complex learning difficulties and/or disabilities, which may include personal care as necessary.
• Work with individuals or small groups to encourage engagement with activities and support independent work.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with learners, teachers, parents/carers, and other agencies involved with the students.
• Assist learners with personal care and mobility, following instructions from learners regarding their support needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Good literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding, discrimination issues, and the challenges faced by individuals with learning difficulties.
• Willingness to assist with personal care and mobility as needed.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills, along with proficient IT and administrative abilities.
• Experience working with SEN learners in a secondary or further education environment is desirable.
