Pay Rate: £21.67 per hour

Job Description:

My client is seeking a motivated and organised Planner to join their Development Management team on a 6-month maternity/paternity leave cover contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing planning casework, contributing to service delivery and performance, and supporting the reduction of pressure on the existing team caused by increasing caseloads.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process planning applications in accordance with statutory timescales and internal performance targets
• Organise and manage a personal workload effectively, ensuring timely and high-quality case handling
• Contribute to the improvement of planning processes and support wider team goals
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, and members of the public to ensure transparency and fairness in planning decisions
• Prepare reports and recommendations for planning decisions or committee presentations as required

Skills & Experience Required:

• Relevant planning experience, preferably within a local authority development management context
• Understanding of UK planning legislation, policies, and procedures
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in the use of planning systems and software

Additional Comments:

• This role is being offered to provide essential cover during maternity or paternity leave.
• The post holder will be expected to contribute immediately to the workload, so experience in a similar planning role is essential.
• The hourly rate for this position is competitive and reflective of experience.
