Planning Officer

Stockport Council are seeking a qualified Town Planner with a robust understanding of planning legislation and a proven track record in managing diverse application types. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in a local authority planning department, particularly those with expertise in greenbelt and conservation areas.

• Conduct detailed planning assessments and prepare reports on a variety of applications, including those related to greenbelt and conservation areas.
• Manage and prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Undertake site visits as required, ensuring all planning considerations are thoroughly evaluated.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including local communities, developers, and government bodies, to facilitate transparent and effective planning processes.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on planning legislation and policies to support decision-making processes.

• RTPI membership or eligibility/progress towards joining.
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation, particularly relating to greenbelt and conservation areas.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with various stakeholders.
• Ability to manage complex workloads involving mixed application types.
• Full current UK driving licence, as the role requires site visits.
