Hours: Monday-Friday, 39 hours, 8am-4pm or 6am-2pm

Overview of a Plant Operator
As a Plant Operator, you will be responsible for safely controlling the filling, handling and movement of gas cylinders at an industrial gas depot. This hands-on role includes operating filling equipment, conducting product analysis, using forklift trucks and supporting quality and safety standards in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities of a Plant Operator
•Operate electrical motors, cryogenic and non-cryogenic pumps to fill cylinders safely and efficiently.
• Move and couple cylinders to fill points; load cylinders into pallets and onto trucks using forklift equipment.
• Conduct product analysis to ensure compliance with specifications and raise any issues that may affect product quality.
• Complete process documentation in a clear and accurate manner.
• Receive and inspect incoming product for conformity.
• Carry out cylinder inspections, labelling, painting, minor repairs and ensure safe handling practices.
• Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments as required.
• Comply with legal and corporate safety standards and wear PPE in designated operational areas.
• Support operational excellence by reporting faults, ensuring systems run safely, and following quality procedures.

Key competencies of a Plant Operator
• Proven background in operational or engineering roles within an industry known for high safety standards.
• Trained and competent in the safe use of forklift trucks.
• Good understanding of industrial safety procedures and quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow regulated operational procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and resolve issues under pressure.
