Platform engineer

We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer with a strong public sector background to join a key project on a 6-month contract. This role requires on-site work in Telford for 2 days per week, with the rest of the time working remotely. The position is Inside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate.

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient cloud platforms to support public sector services.

• Work within Agile delivery teams to develop infrastructure solutions that meet business and security requirements.

• Automate infrastructure deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable software delivery.

• Support containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and security compliance.

• Collaborate with developers, security specialists, and operations teams to enhance platform capabilities.

• Ensure alignment with public sector governance, security, and compliance standards.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers on best practices and DevOps methodologies.

? Public Sector Experience - Strong background working in government or public sector organizations.
? Cloud Expertise - Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including security and cost optimization.
? Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
? CI/CD & Automation - Proficiency in Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
? Containerization & Orchestration - Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
? Monitoring & Logging - Knowledge of tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or CloudWatch.
? Security & Compliance - Understanding of public sector security frameworks, including ISO 27001, NCSC guidelines, and CIS benchmarks.
? Scripting & Automation - Proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
