Principal Civil / Structural Engineer

Our client, a prominent player in the oil and gas sector, is currently seeking a Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. Based out of the Aberdeen office, you will lead a team of engineers and designers, supporting the broader multi-disciplinary design and construction teams working on petrochemical projects.

• Communicating confidently and authoritatively with clients
• Challenging and delivering value engineering solutions
• Maintaining the required technical quality of work produced by the Civil and Structural team
• Ensuring all assigned work complies with the agreed budget and schedule
• Reviewing and checking drawings, calculations, specifications and related documentation for civil and structural works
• Developing design documents, reports and specifications
• Communicating designs effectively to the wider teams
• Delivering presentations to both internal and external stakeholders
• Assisting in developing the knowledge and skills of the Civil and Structural team
• Leading and managing teams effectively
• Supporting and guiding junior team members
• Ensuring safety by design with a strong focus on assessing and articulating risks
• Appreciating the requirements of temporary works

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
• Considerable experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer in the petrochemical sector
• Knowledge of Energy Sector industry norms and specifications
• Competence in the design of foundations, pipe supports, pipe racks/tracks, rotating equipment supports, gas process structures, drainage, steel, concrete and temporary works
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment
• A UK driving licence
• Offshore experience (beneficial but not essential)
