Probation Officer

Red Snapper Recruitment is working in partnership with the National Probation Service to recruit a Probation Officer for a Sentence Management role based in Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

This is an excellent opportunity to support the rehabilitation of individuals on probation, manage complex cases, and contribute directly to public protection through effective risk management and sentence planning.

Location: Redbridge & Waltham Forest Probation Office, E17 6QU, remote work will be considered
Contract Length: 9 months, with possibility of extension
Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
Pay Rate: £22.10 per hour (PAYE) or £29.09 per hour (via Umbrella)

• Manage a caseload of individuals subject to statutory supervision in the community

• Complete comprehensive risk assessments and sentence plans in line with national standards

• Deliver structured interventions and enforce compliance with sentence requirements

• Liaise with internal and external agencies, including courts, police, and treatment providers

• Prepare pre-sentence reports and breach reports where required

• Participate in multi-agency public protection arrangements (MAPPA) and safeguarding processes

• Maintain accurate case records using approved case management systems

• Qualified Probation Officer (Diploma in Probation Studies, PQF, or equivalent)

• Recent experience managing medium to high-risk cases within the Probation Service

• Excellent understanding of risk assessment, sentence planning, and offender management

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-paced environment

• Enhanced DBS check (can be processed during onboarding)
