Probation Officer- Court Report

Red Snapper Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified Probation Officer to join the Court Team in Wandsworth PDU, London.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to undertake court report duties in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality reports for court, advising sentencers on risk and sentencing options, and liaising closely with partner agencies. This position is full-time and based on site, reflecting the collaborative requirements of the role.

Job Summary

• Location: Wandsworth PDU, 79 East Hill, London, SW18 2QE
• Contract Type: Temporary, 1 year with possibility of extension
• Hours: 37 hours per week, full-time
• Rate: £23.95 p/h PAYE or £31.53 p/h Umbrella
• Working Pattern: On-site, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare timely, accurate, and high-quality pre-sentence and other court reports.
• Advise magistrates and judges on risk, sentencing, and rehabilitative options.
• Assess and analyse risk of reoffending and safeguarding concerns.
• Liaise effectively with courts, probation colleagues, police, social services, and other partner agencies.
• Represent the Probation Service professionally in court, providing expert advice and recommendations.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording on case management systems.

Essential Requirements

• Professional Qualification in Probation (DipPS, DipSW with PQF, or equivalent recognised by HMPPS).
• Proven experience in preparing pre-sentence reports and delivering advice to courts.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
• Confident working within a multidisciplinary environment and under time pressures.
