Job Description - Procurement Support Officer

Procurement Support Officer
  • Organisation: Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA)
  • Job Type: 6-month Temporary Contract

GMCA are seeking a Procurement Support Officer to provide efficient and effective support in the processing of official orders and invoices, web-based requisitions, and goods receipt recording. This role involves supporting procurement-related activities, obtaining quotations, and managing small categories of spend to ensure the delivery of high-quality outcomes for internal stakeholders and customers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide support on procurement and contract management arrangements, ensuring compliant, effective, and efficient procurement processes are in place and widely used.
  • Oversee the administration of requisitions, goods receipting, purchase orders, and invoices, including checking of correct cost centres and products used.
  • Manage the Purchase Card contract, including requests for purchase cards, checking transactions, and overseeing the administration of receipts.
  • Manage data collection of procurement-related expenditure to support ongoing contract management.
  • Lead on procurement activity for small categories of expenditure.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in procurement support or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes and contract management.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
