Project Accountant

Global Consultancy seeks a Project Accountant to join the business on a temporary assignment to work on their project database. The business is going through a period of change and is looking to overhaul the current method of project management. The Project Accountant would be a Part Qualified/Qualified Accountant who has previously worked in a professional services/project-based environment.

The role will provide the opportunity to deliver change and deliver genuine value to the business. A thorough understanding of project-based businesses is a prerequisite for success in this role, including the calculation of direct and gross margins.

Duties of the Project Accountant include:

• Detailed review of all timesheets booked in the project management system.
• Detailed review of all projects booked in the project management system.
• Redesign project reporting to provide management with a clear view of the strengths and weaknesses of their business, including detailed project by project analysis.
• Calculation of direct and gross margin
• Implement controls and procedures.
• Liaising with senior stakeholders
• Ad-hoc projects

Requirements for the Project Accountant include:

• Thorough understanding of project accounting
• Highly proficient in Excel
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Able to work independently and proactively in an efficient manner.
• Recommend and implement changes to processes where appropriate.
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Organised and structured approach
• Ability to liaise effectively with all levels of management and staff.
• Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) preferred
• At least 3 to 5 years' experience working as a project accountant/analyst.
