An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Officer to join our Project & Programme Management team at Hampshire County Council.

The Role:

Hampshire Engineering Services’ (ES) Project Management Office is run by the Project & Programme Management (PPM) team. We are a team of skilled professionals with advanced knowledge and experience in the management of multi-disciplinary, highly complex engineering schemes from inception through to delivery.

The Project & Programme Management Team is looking for an organised, enthusiastic and self-motivated Project Officer to join the team.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Project & Programme Manager in Engineering Services, you will assist with the collation, analysis and presentation of financial, performance and other data to inform senior management and generate recommendations for action/decision by others.

Working under the direction and support of the Senior Project Officer, you’ll be responsible for tracking timelines and ensuring predicted costs remain aligned with project programmes and financial models. You will also manage variations to project scope through effective change control, minimising commercial exposure and project risk while securing client understanding and approval.

We are a very proactive, supportive and collaborative team and your colleagues will support you to develop your skills in this role, whilst there will be opportunities to manage and deliver a range of highway related small-medium projects and tasks.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll be confident in managing relationships at all levels and working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.

You’ll also bring excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, alongside sound financial awareness and an understanding of programme cost management and business case development. The role requires someone who can demonstrate political awareness and sensitivity, exercising good judgement while navigating complex environments.
