About the School:
Veritas Education is currently recruiting on behalf of a warm and welcoming primary school in Lewisham. The school is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team and contribute to their mission of nurturing both the academic and personal development of students.

Role Overview:
As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the classroom teacher to support the educational development of students, particularly those who may require additional support. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a primary school setting, applying your knowledge of psychology to support students' emotional, social, and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in delivering engaging lessons and supporting students in their learning.
  • Provide tailored one-on-one and small group support to pupils, particularly those with additional needs or requiring extra attention.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and support students in improving their emotional and social development.
  • Observe, monitor, and track student progress, feeding back to the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure the best outcomes for all students.
  • Assist with preparing classroom resources and materials to support lesson delivery.

About You:
The ideal candidate will be a Psychology graduate who is passionate about supporting children's development and learning. We are looking for someone who possesses the following qualities:

  • A degree in Psychology (2:1 or above preferred).
  • Experience working with children is desirable, but not essential (voluntary work, placements, or tutoring experience is a plus).
  • A good understanding of child development and psychology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and staff.
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting children's learning.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
