Lodge Receptionist – Front of House ?? Location: Oxford

We are seeking a courteous, reliable, and proactive Lodge Receptionist to join our team and help ensure the smooth operation of front-of-house and security services. This is a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all members of the College and its visitors.
Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Duties

Operate access control in line with College policy.
Respond to fire and security alarms, including building evacuations and liaising with emergency services.
Monitor CCTV and fire alarm systems, reporting faults and maintaining logs.
Issue and track keys for members, guests, and contractors.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and alarm activations.
Liaise with Junior Deans on student welfare issues out of hours.
Coordinate emergency maintenance responses.

Front of House Duties

Provide information and assistance to College members, visitors, and conference delegates.
Manage incoming calls, messages, and mail.
Maintain forwarding addresses for students.
Promote and sell College souvenirs.
Support B&B bookings and guest enquiries.
Log and forward reports of room defects.

General Duties

Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the Lodge area.
Support administrative tasks and assist with OSS and Conference team coordination.
Accept and manage courier deliveries.
Monitor parking and handle lost property appropriately.
Provide flexible cover at other reception points as needed.

RequirementsEssential

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy, varied environment.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
Willingness to undertake First Aid and security-related training.
Flexible and team-oriented approach.

Desirable

Experience in a similar front-of-house or security role.
Familiarity with CCTV, access control, or fire alarm systems.
Knowledge of College or academic environments.
