Job Description - Receptionist / Administration Officer

Receptionist/ Administration Officer
  • Job Type: Temporary, Full-time (Office Based)
  • Location: Blackpool, FY1 3AH
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Pay: £12.87 per hour (PAYE)

Join Blackpool Council as a Receptionist and become the face of their adult learning centre. This role is crucial in providing a welcoming and efficient front-of-house experience for learners, visitors, and staff. Day-to-day of the role:
  • Greet and direct learners, visitors, and staff in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Manage telephone and face-to-face enquiries efficiently.
  • Support the day-to-day administrative tasks of the centre including handling post, room bookings, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy, organised, and compliant with health and safety procedures.
  • Provide administrative support during enrolment sessions, celebration events, visits, and tutor meetings.
  • Be responsible for the booking system of courses, meetings, and exams.
  • Input data accurately and assist in ensuring funding return deadlines are met.
  • Maintain manual and computerised records and management information systems, adhering to data protection guidelines.
  • Handle small amounts of cash and process payments.
  • Organise meetings, book rooms, and distribute marketing literature across centres in Blackpool.
  • Update the Government Course Directory and screen signage throughout the building.
  • Invigilate exams and respond to customer enquiries via various communication channels.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in reception, front-of-house, or administrative roles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Confident in using IT systems including Outlook, Google Drive, and Excel.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Friendly, professional demeanour, and reliable.
  • Experience in handling cash and basic financial transactions is preferred.
