Are you passionate about supporting children and families and have strong administrative and communication skills? The London Borough of Islington is looking for a Referral Officer to join their Children's Services Contact Team (CSCT). This role is central to managing new referrals for Children's Social Care and other targeted services.
About the RoleAs a Referral Officer, you will act as the first point of contact for members of the public and partner professionals. You'll play a key role in ensuring that information is gathered accurately and efficiently, enabling social care teams to respond promptly and appropriately to children in need of support.
You'll work closely with Team Managers, Practice Managers, Social Workers, and MASH partners, providing vital administrative support in a fast-paced, sensitive environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProcess and record incoming contacts and referrals with accuracy and care
Liaise with social workers and partner agencies to gather and verify information
Use electronic case management systems and Microsoft Office tools to manage data
Respond to telephone enquiries sensitively and effectively
Contribute to a high-performing, child-focused team environment
Ensure safeguarding concerns are raised appropriately and documented clearly
Experience in administrative roles within busy, frontline environments
Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, professional manner
Confidence using databases, Excel, and Microsoft Office
A basic understanding of children's services and safeguarding processes
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
Willingness to undertake child protection training and ongoing professional development
