Job Summary:

Our client, Dorset Council, is looking for a dedicated and skilled Level 2 Refuse Driver to join their Waste and Recycling Services team at Bridport Depot. This role involves ensuring the safe and efficient collection of refuse, recycling, and other waste materials while maintaining exceptional service standards for local residents and businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Supervise and assist the collection crew in loading and unloading waste.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of collection routes.
• Conduct vehicle checks, report defects, and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and council policies.
• Engage with the public professionally and address queries.
• Report incidents, disruptions, or issues to the line manager.
• Assist with additional duties, such as bin deliveries when required.

Essential Requirements:

• Valid Category C , LGV/HGV licence with CPC qualification.
• Experience in driving and operating refuse collection vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices in the waste management sector.
• Ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively.
• Good problem-solving skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks.

Desirable Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience working within a local authority waste collection service.
• Knowledge of Bridport and surrounding areas.
• Mechanical knowledge of refuse collection vehicles.
• Additional relevant training, such as first aid or manual handling.

Job Type: Temp to perm

Pay: £12.85 per hour
