Regulatory Compliance SME - Water Sector

A global professional services organisation is seeking a contractor for their client that works within the UK water sector.

Are you an experienced regulatory professional with a strong background in execution planning, budget alignment, and performance delivery within the UK water sector? We’re seeking a Regulatory Compliance SME to lead the development and maturity of strategic execution plans that align with regulatory expectations and business performance commitments.

You will act as an Execution Plan Maturity Manager particularly within the context of Asset Management Periods (AMPs). This role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, budget formulation processes, and performance measurement frameworks within the UK water sector.

This is an initial 6-month contract and will be inside IR35 with a daily rate in the region of £750 to £850 per day via an Umbrella company, the role is fully remote with some potential client visits to either Cardiff or London

Key Responsibilities

• Execution Plan Leadership: Guide the creation and refinement of execution plans across programmes and projects, ensuring they meet strategic and regulatory objectives.
• Regulatory Cycle Expertise: Provide expert insight into the regulatory planning cycles relevant to the UK water industry, ensuring execution plans are future-proof and compliant.
• Budget Assurance: Review and validate the integration of execution plans with regulatory budgets, identifying areas for improvement and optimisation.
• Performance Integration: Ensure that key performance commitments and deliverables are embedded within execution plans and effectively tracked.
• Maturity Frameworks: Develop and apply frameworks to assess and enhance the maturity of execution plans.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with finance, engineering, operations, and programme teams to ensure a unified approach to planning and delivery.
• Risk & Opportunity Management: Identify risks and opportunities related to compliance and performance, and propose actionable strategies.
• Reporting & Communication: Produce clear, insightful reports on execution plan maturity, budget alignment, and performance delivery for senior stakeholders.

Experience

• Deep understanding of regulatory planning cycles and frameworks within the UK water sector.
• Strong experience in budget formulation, allocation, and assurance in a regulated environment.
• Proven ability to translate performance commitments into actionable plans and monitor delivery.
• Extensive background in programme or project management, with a focus on governance and delivery.
• Familiarity with execution planning tools and methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
