Research Grants Officer (Pre Award)

Location: London-based University

Rate: £27.00 per hour

Duration: Interim, 6 months

Working Pattern: Hybrid

Job Purpose

Support the coordination and submission of a portfolio of research funding applications, collaborating closely with academics and professional services staff across departments.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage administrative processes associated with the research grant lifecycle
• Provide advice and assistance on interpreting funders’ terms and conditions
• Develop research budgets alongside academic and professional services staff
• Offer guidance on costing and pricing
• Conduct financial assessments of application budgets ensuring compliance with TRAC and FEC methodology as well as funders’ terms and conditions
• Own all research applications within the given portfolio
• Manage the online submission of applications

Person Specification

• Demonstrable experience of supporting complex research budgets/ research project lifecycle (Desirable)
• Experience in a pre-award research support role, ideally within Higher Education
• Understanding of grant-funded research, including grant costing and pricing concepts (FEC) and the funding environment for research both in the UK and internationally
• Practical experience in constructing research budgets using electronic costing systems such as Worktribe
• Excellent interpersonal and numeracy skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to non-specialists and a range of stakeholders
