Job Description - Sales Ledger Clerk

Job Title: Sales Ledger Clerk (Immediate Temp needed)

Location: Feltham
Reports to: Finance Manager
Job Type: Full-time /Temporary
Pay: £15-16/hr

Job Purpose:

The Sales Ledger Clerk is responsible for maintaining the sales ledger, ensuring accurate and timely processing of customer invoices, receipts, and credit control activities. This role plays a key part in supporting the finance team by ensuring the integrity of customer accounts and contributing to the smooth running of the company’s financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and issue sales invoices accurately and on time.
  • Allocate customer payments to the correct accounts and invoices.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payments and follow up on overdue balances.
  • Reconcile the sales ledger to ensure all transactions are accounted for and properly posted.
  • Liaise with customers to resolve invoice queries and discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communications with customers.
  • Assist with month-end procedures, including ledger reconciliations and reporting.
  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and reporting as required.
Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a similar finance or accounts role.
  • Strong numerical and data entry skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • AAT qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience in credit control or customer service.
Personal Attributes:
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive and able to work independently.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Discreet and trustworthy with confidential information.
