Job Description - School Nurse

Job Title: Band 6 School Nurse (Agency)
Location: Brent, London
Pay Rate: £28 per hour (PAYE options available)
Contract Type: Temporary/Agency
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Band 6 School Nurse to join a dedicated Special School Nursing team in Brent. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled nurse to support children and young people with complex health needs in an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality nursing care to students with complex medical needs.
Support with enteral feeding, medication administration, and epilepsy management.
Develop, implement, and review individual care plans in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Provide safeguarding support, escalating concerns appropriately and in line with policy.
Liaise effectively with families, carers, education staff, and healthcare professionals.
Participate in care planning meetings, EHCP reviews, and multi-agency liaison.
Promote health education and wellbeing across the school community.

Essential Requirements:

NMC Registration (Registered Children’s Nurse or Registered Nurse with relevant experience)
Proven experience in Special School Nursing
Competency in complex needs, enteral feeding, and medication administration
Experience managing epilepsy and responding to emergency protocols
Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies
Skilled in care planning and clinical documentation
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce) on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one

Desirable:

Previous NHS or Local Authority school nursing experience
Training in epilepsy awareness, gastrostomy care, and manual handling

Additional Information:

Immediate start available
Full-time preferred, part-time may be considered
