School Site Supervisor

Your new role

We are currently recruiting for School Site Supervisors to join our schools in East Lancashire on a temporary basis - mainly the Blackburn, Darwen and Burnley areas. This is a fantastic chance to take on varied and fulfilling roles where no two days are the same.

Hays Education is seeking experienced and proactive School Site Supervisors to become key members of dedicated site teams. You will be responsible for the overall management, safety, and upkeep of the school premises, ensuring a clean, secure, and well-maintained environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

These roles are full-time, temporary positions working on either a rotating shift pattern or split shift. Flexibility is essential, as occasional weekend or out-of-hours work may be required for emergencies or special projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Site Security & Safety
  - Opening and closing the school premises daily
  - Monitoring and maintaining security systems, alarms, and access controls
  - Conducting regular site checks and risk assessments to ensure a safe environment
• Maintenance & Repairs
  - Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs across the site
  - Overseeing contractors and ensuring work is completed to a high standard
  - Supporting refurbishment and improvement projects during school holidays or weekends
• Health & Safety Compliance
  - Ensuring all health and safety policies are followed
  - Maintaining accurate records of inspections, incidents, and maintenance logs
  - Managing COSHH and ensuring safe storage of cleaning and maintenance materials
• Cleaning & Facilities Management
  - Supervising cleaning staff and ensuring high standards of cleanliness throughout the school
  - Managing waste disposal and recycling procedures
  - Ensuring heating, lighting, and ventilation systems are functioning efficiently
• Porterage & Support
  - Assisting with the setup of rooms for meetings, assemblies, and school events
  - Receiving and distributing deliveries
  - Supporting staff with moving furniture and equipment as needed

What you'll need to succeed

• Relevant Experience or Qualification in site or facilities management.
• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, repairs, and health & safety regulations.
• Familiarity with security systems and site safety procedures.
• Flexible and proactive, able to prioritise tasks and respond to urgent issues.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours when needed (e.g. emergencies or school holidays).
• Commitment to the school's values, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
