Role: Science Teacher

Location: Taunton, Somerset

Start: September 2025

Contract: Fixed-term Contract Until Easter 2026 (with potential to become permanent)

Salary: £140 - £170 per day

Long-Term Teachers are pleased to be working with an inspiring and supportive specialist SEMH school in Somerset to appoint a Science Teacher for a fixed-term role starting September 2025 through to Easter 2026, with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a setting that supports students aged 11 - 18 with autism and associated needs. The school offers a nurturing and personalised approach to education, helping students rebuild their confidence and develop meaningful academic and social skills.

About The Role:

As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons to small groups of students working at a variety of levels. You’ll be supported by an experienced senior leadership team and have access to ongoing professional development.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering Science lessons that are adaptive, creative and relevant

  • Support students who may have had negative prior experiences of education

  • Foster positive relationships that encourage confidence, curiosity and achievement

  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to ensure a holistic approach to learning

  • Help prepare students for relevant qualifications at KS3 and KS4

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or experienced Science Instructor

  • Subject specialism in Science - any discipline

  • Experience teaching in either mainstream, SEMH or alternative settings

  • Passionate about inclusive education and positive behaviour approaches

  • Confident, resilient and adaptable in small group or individualised teaching environments
