Job Description - Science Teacher

Science Teacher

Location: Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6

Contract: Long-term to perm, Full-time

Pay: Paid to Scale (MPS-UPS)

Start Date: September 2025

Long Term Futures are seeking a passionate and innovative Science Teacher to deliver inspiring lessons across the Sciences-Biology, Chemistry and Physics. You will motivate students to reach high academic standards, nurture scientific curiosity, and contribute to the school's successful Sixth Form provision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, teach and assess engaging Science lessons across Key Stages 3-5.
  • Promote deep understanding, critical thinking and active participation in practical investigations.
  • Contribute fully to the school's collaborative department team-sharing good practice and supporting colleagues.
  • Support excellent behaviour and foster a positive learning environment.
  • Engage with parents/carers through reports and meetings to support student progress and attainment.

The Right Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with expertise in science education.
  • Ability to inspire and challenge pupils across ability ranges, including in A-level science.
  • Strong classroom management skills and commitment to safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration, working effectively within a forward-thinking department.
