Job Description - Secondary - Science Teacher

Science Teacher
  • Salary: Paid to scale
  • Working Hours: 08:30-16:00, Mon-Fri
  • Location: Rural Horsham
  • Position: Permanent - possible long term supply start if preferred
  • Availability: September or October half term start

An all-through special school for boys aged 5-18 years old, located in the beautiful West Sussex countryside, is seeking a Science Teacher on a permanent basis.. The school boasts state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, a 100% GCSE pass rate, and a reputation for innovation and outstanding practice. Safety, physical and emotional wellbeing are core values, creating a happy environment dedicated to supporting the individual needs of pupils. The school fosters a strong sense of community, with adults acting as positive role models to ensure the highest levels of safety and purposeful engagement. There is a strong belief in empowering students to reach their full potential.

Your New Role

  • Delivering high-quality Science education to students in Years 7-11.
  • Working with children who have complex emotional needs and ensuring de-escalation before disruption.
  • Maintaining good relationships with pupils, exercising appropriate authority, and acting decisively when necessary.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of how pupils learn and how to meet their individual requirements.
  • Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • QTS/QTLS or an equivalent overseas qualification.
  • Experience working with children who have complex emotional needs is essential.
  • A track record of facilitating students to fulfil their potential is preferred.
  • A genuine level of care and desire for helping students thrive.
  • A driving licence is required due to the school’s rural location.
