Job Description - SEN Learning Support Assistant

Job Title: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Lambeth Campus
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: 35 hours per week, Term Time Only (36 weeks)
Pay Rate: £14.50 per hour
Start Date: September

About the Role: We are currently seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Lambeth Campus. In this vital role, you will work closely with the Personal Care, Support & Health Care Lead, as well as curriculum staff, to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

You’ll be instrumental in ensuring that all learners—both young people and adults—are supported in achieving their full potential, accessing college services, and developing independent learning skills in line with their Educational Health & Care Plans (EHCPs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support learners in their educational and social development
  • Promote independent learning and self-advocacy skills
  • Assist with personal care and student wellbeing
  • Identify and help remove barriers to learning and participation
  • Ensure access to assistive technologies, equipment, and college services
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to support plans and reviews
  • Liaise with external agencies, families, and internal teams as needed
  • Act as a college First Aider (training can be provided)
Essential Requirements:
  • A good standard of general education
  • Minimum of Level 2 in Maths and English (or willingness to work towards)
  • Willingness to gain First Aid certification
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Understanding of safeguarding and safe learning environments
  • Sensitivity to the needs and challenges faced by learners with SEN
  • Willingness to support learners with personal care and mobility
Desirable:
  • Experience supporting SEN learners in a secondary or FE setting
  • Experience collaborating with families and external support services

Contract Positions

eXede Ltd is acting as an Employment Business and the successful applicant will be engaged by the agency on a PAYE basis.
