Job Description - SEN Teacher

1:1 ASD Teacher

Are you a patient and committed 1:1 ASD Teacher looking to make a profound difference in a child's life? Academics, a leading education recruitment agency, is delighted to be working with a specialist provision in Walsall to recruit a dedicated 1:1 ASD Teacher to provide personalised support to a pupil with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

About the Role:

As a 1:1 ASD Teacher, you will be working closely with one primary-aged pupil, delivering a highly individualised programme of learning that meets their unique communication, sensory, and emotional needs. The role requires creativity, consistency, and a compassionate approach that fosters trust, confidence, and progress both academically and socially.

We are seeking a 1:1 ASD Teacher who understands the importance of structure, visual support, and tailored strategies in supporting pupils with autism. You will collaborate closely with SENCOs, therapists, and family members to ensure a joined-up, holistic approach to the child's development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver bespoke 1:1 lessons aligned with the pupil's EHCP targets.
  • Use specialist resources and approaches such as PECS, visual timetables, or TEACCH.
  • Maintain a calm and positive learning environment that supports sensory regulation.
  • Build a trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil.
  • Record and report on progress, working closely with the wider team to adjust strategies as needed.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • Experience working with children with autism, ideally in a 1:1 or small group setting.
  • Knowledge of autism-specific strategies and tools.
  • Empathy, patience, and a proactive mindset.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Why Join Academics?

  • £150 - £225 Per Day
  • Expert guidance from a dedicated SEN consultant.
  • Access to exclusive 1:1 and SEN roles across Walsall.
  • Friendly and supportive recruitment service.
  • "Refer a Friend" bonus scheme available.

Whether you're an experienced 1:1 ASD Teacher or a mainstream teacher seeking a more focused and impactful role, we'd love to hear from you!

Apply today by submitting your CV or contacting us for more information. Not quite the right fit? Reach out anyway-we offer a wide variety of rewarding roles for SEN professionals across Walsall and the surrounding areas.
